What is Induction compatible cookware – How is it different from regular cookware?
The term induction compatible cookware is sometimes referred to as induction-ready cookware. It is used to mean that a pot or pan can be used on an induction cooktop. Cookware for Induction is different from regular cookware. You can use regular cookware only on electric, gas and other cooktop surfaces except for induction stovetops. Simply put, regular cookware will not work on an induction cooktop. Because they are not optimized for that. But induction compatible cookware can be used on both an induction cooking surface and nearly on other stoves.
The reason is that regular stovetops heat pots and pans by direct contact through a method of thermal conduction. In thermal conduction, flames or electrical heating elements generate heat. The heat is then transferred from the stovetop to the pot through direct contact. By contrast, an induction cooktop “induction hob” or “induction stove” uses direct induction heating. direct induction heating heats the pan via a magnetically generated heat field. The field then induces an electric current (heat) in the pan, thus heating up the pan’s contents. This means that for the cookware to be induction compatible, it must be made of material, or incorporate material that is responsive to magnetism. Commonly used material to make induction cookware are ferrous metal such as cast iron or some stainless steels.
How do I know if my cookware is induction compatible?
There are two ways to check if your cookware is induction compatible.
1- The easiest and fastest way to check if your cookware (pans, pots) are induction compatible and will work, is to test their bottom with a magnet. Just hold or try to stick a magnet to the pan’s base. If the magnet sticks, then your cookware will work on an induction stovetop. Our review here contains only the best nonstick cookware for induction. They are all optimized to work on induction stovetops (are all induction compatible). And are coated with the best nonstick coating available today.
2- The second way of checking whether your cookware is induction compatible and will heat up on the burner is by pouring a small amount of water into the cookware. Then placing the cookware containing the water on the burner’s cooking zone. If the display starts flashing with an error code or error alarm, this is an indication that the cookware is not compatible and will definitely not work.
What is nonstick induction cookware? – Why should you buy nonstick induction cookware?
Nonstick cookware is made by coating with a thin layer of material. The material prevents food from sticking onto the cookware. This thus eliminates problems of damaged utensils. Difficulties with cleaning your dishes are also eliminated. Encountering funny burnt smell while making your meals, as commonly experienced when using stainless steel cookware is also reduced. The most commonly used coating material is called Teflon. However, though Teflon was the first material used for making nonstick pans. Other materials, such as anodized aluminium, silicone, ceramics and enamelled cast iron were later discovered and are also used for making nonstick cookware.
Nonstick cookware has several benefits compared to our widely available regular stainless steel cookware. For starters, nonstick cookware is very easy to clean by just wiping it with a towel. This creates convenience and is a time saver and also eases on the task of cleaning your induction cooktop as well. Additionally, nonstick cookware offers a healthier cooking choice, as you don’t need to use much oil for deep frying, butter or lard. And you don’t have to preheat them before adding ingredients.
Now that we have cleared the possible questions that could have been lingering in your head, lets dive into which nonstick induction cookware are the best to buy.

With the advent of nonstick cookware and modern heat transfer by induction cooktops, food preparation, transfer and cleanup was revolutionized, allowing us more time to spend and enjoy little moments with our loved ones instead of spending it in the kitchen. Choosing the right nonstick cookware for induction stovetops will depend on a number of factors. These include the cookware’s quality and suitability to the task at hand, and the potential of the product to perform over its lifetime.
However, even if you bought what is regarded as the best nonstick induction cookware. We think it is smart to know that there’s nothing that is non-stick out there, which is guaranteed not to chip or peel after a few years of use. Regardless of the brand, you buy, eventually, after a couple of years, the nonstick coating on the cookware, together with their handle rivets, will start to peel away. So we recommend proper care of your nonstick cookware for induction if you want to enjoy more years with the utensils.
