  • Water
  • Hot Tools Styling Iron Cleaner
  • Microfiber cloth or towel (more than 1)
  • Gentle Scrub Sponge
  • Baking soda
  • Oven mitt or oven gloves

STEPS FOR CLEANING YOUR CURLING IRON

The first step is to warm up the curling iron to a reasonable temperature such that the buildup is lifted up. With the oven gloves already in your hands, hold up the curling iron to feel whether the temperature is enough.

Secondly, damp your microfiber towel in hot water and run it over the holding side of your iron. Proceed to the heating part and wipe off the bruised build up. Without using warm water, you can opt for the curling iron cleaner spray which can still be got from Amazon.

The third step is to use a dry towel to remove any excess water build up and cleaner spray remaining on your iron.

Nevertheless, the buildup might be so hard and cannot be removed from your clamp and barrel by just warming the iron.

Option 2

Another option is to use baking soda  in hot water. Place the side of the barrel and clamp into the mixture and leave it there for some time. Cleaning alcohol or some heat repellant sprays are good options.

Remove the curling iron or band from the solution and use a towel damped with cleaner. Pass it over the barrel to remove the raised build ups.

With a dry towel again pass it over the all curling iron to dry it up and remove any chances of possible rust and stains.

Tips: The cleaning process should not be aggressive because when your barrel surface is cracked it brings out uneven heat distribution. Uneven heat distributions are a threat to your hair. In this case some areas might get too much heat whereas others will not get enough.

In case of any odor during the cleaning process or usage then someone should make use of baking soda. It helps  to remove that stain which has caused the odor.
